About the Role

Tommy's is a leading UK charity dedicated to researching the causes and prevention of pregnancy complications, miscarriage, stillbirth, and premature birth. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to lead our Research Team.

As the Head of Research, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our £2 million annual research spend funds the best work. You will lead funding, governance, public and patient involvement, and work closely with the Director for Research, Programmes, and Impact to support strategic delivery.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the research landscape and the processes required for research funding and governance. They will also have experience in building relationships at all levels, both internally and externally, and working effectively to deadlines and under pressure.

We are looking for a self-starter who can drive forward programmes of activity, with a strong commitment to patient and public engagement. If you have a passion for research and a desire to make a difference, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Research Team to deliver high-quality research projects
  • Develop and implement research strategies to achieve our goals
  • Manage research funding and governance processes
  • Build relationships with stakeholders, including researchers, clinicians, and patients
  • Work closely with the Director for Research, Programmes, and Impact to support strategic delivery

Requirements:

  • Experience in research funding and governance
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively to deadlines and under pressure
  • Passion for research and patient and public engagement

What We Offer:

  • A competitive salary of £49,000-£53,000
  • 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays
