About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Protection Specialist to join our team at Brown & Brown Europe. As a key member of our data protection team, you will play a vital role in supporting the Data Protection Officer in various aspects of data protection across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Subject Rights Requests: Assist in responding to data subject rights requests (DSARs) in a timely and compliant manner, ensuring that all requests are handled efficiently and effectively.
  • Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs): Collaborate with the team to prepare DPIAs for new projects and processes, ensuring that all necessary steps are taken to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Training and Awareness: Provide assistance in the development and coordination of data protection training programs for teammates, ensuring that all employees are aware of their data protection responsibilities.
  • Acquisition Due Diligence and Onboarding: Participate in data protection due diligence activities during acquisitions, providing support and assistance with documentation to ensure seamless integration.
  • Contract Reviews: Assist in reviewing data protection clauses in contracts, working closely with senior staff for guidance to ensure that all contracts are compliant with data protection regulations.
  • ICO Registration Management: Assist in the management of the Group ICO registrations, ensuring that all registrations are up-to-date and compliant with data protection regulations.
  • Data Breach Management: Provide assistance in identifying, reporting, and managing data breaches, under the direction of senior team members, to ensure that all breaches are handled efficiently and effectively.
  • Management Reporting: Assist in the preparation of regular and ad-hoc reports on data protection activities and compliance status for management review, ensuring that all reports are accurate and comprehensive.
  • Advice and Support: Assist in providing basic advice and support on data protection issues to teammates across the Group, escalating complex queries to senior staff.
  • General Administration Support: Perform general administrative duties to support the Data Protection Officer, including organising meetings, preparing agendas, and taking minutes.
  • Records of Processing Activities (RoPA) Management: Assist in the management of maintenance and update records of processing activities, ensuring that all records are accurate and complete.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a similar role or within data protection is highly desirable.
  • A good understanding of GDPR and other relevant data protection regulations is preferred.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills are beneficial.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially are advantageous.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is an asset.
