Job Title: Contentious Probate Solicitor

Simpson Judge is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Contentious Probate Solicitor to join our team in Clitheroe or Preston.

About the Role:

We are looking for a solicitor with 1-3 years of post-qualification experience to handle a busy caseload with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in contentious probate and trust matters, with at least 40% of their previous caseload consisting of such work.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Handling a busy caseload with minimal supervision
  • Developing relationships with clients and exceeding their expectations
  • Participating in marketing activities and promoting the firm's services
  • Managing client work allocated by the Head of Department or other fee-earners
  • Ensuring client work is progressed expeditiously and clients are kept informed
  • Ensuring confidentiality and security of firm and client documentation
  • Achieving agreed levels of billing and time recording
  • Developing good working relationships with internal and external institutions
  • Providing support to other team members as required
  • Understanding and contributing to the team's objectives
Requirements:
  • 1-3 years PQE essential
  • At least 40% of previous caseload should be contentious trust and probate related
  • Experience of non-contentious private client work advantageous
  • Ability to progress work quickly with an eye for detail
  • Excellent client-facing skills and ability to nurture existing clients
  • Excellent organisation, communication, and potential leadership skills
  • Ability to prioritise work and work to strict timescales
  • Empathy, compassion, and maturity
  • Ambition to learn and make a difference to the firm
  • Ability to develop new sources of work and introductions
  • Excellent IT skills, including case management systems
  • Ability to work as part of the team and show flexibility in attitude and behaviour
