Job Title: Lead Fermentation Research Scientist
Employment Type: Permanent
Location: Surrey
Compensation: £45k - £55k
Work Schedule: 37.5 hours/week, primarily during standard office hours, with occasional night shift responsibilities as dictated by the R&D agenda.
We are in search of a driven Lead Fermentation Research Scientist to enhance our R&D team. Reporting directly to the Head of Fermentation R&D, you will spearhead both new and ongoing research initiatives focused on process development and enhancement. This role offers a unique opportunity to significantly influence a rapidly growing organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Fermentation R&D initiatives, design and implement relevant experiments, troubleshoot issues, and optimize processes using scale-down models, with the goal of subsequent application at production scale.
- Effectively communicate the status of ongoing Fermentation R&D projects, prepare project documentation, participate in project discussions, and present research findings in both written and verbal formats as necessary.
- Supervise a small team of Scientists and/or Technicians, fostering skill development and providing technical guidance to junior team members.
- Evaluate the company's fermentation processes and enhance optimization and standardization efforts.
- Prepare reports and facilitate communication across departments and with senior management.
- Contribute to the daily operations and management of an R&D laboratory.
Required Qualifications:
- Possess a BSc, MSc, or PhD in a Scientific or Engineering discipline, along with relevant industrial experience.
- Demonstrated technical proficiency in microbiology and fermentation processes.
- Experience in project management or supervisory roles is essential.
Applicants must have the ability to drive and possess a vehicle for site access.
