About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transportation Area Manager to join our Amazon Transportation Services (ATS) team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for leading a team of associates in a cluster within the UK, with a focus on optimizing operations and ensuring a safe and efficient transportation network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safeguard your team's safety and promote Amazon's Health and Safety standards
  • Ensure your team is engaged and motivated, with a culture of ownership and high performance
  • Work with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements and optimize operations
  • Uphold Amazon's high standards of process quality and strive to improve and streamline processes
  • Act as a subject matter expert on processes and activities, and actively share and promote best practices with colleagues and network
  • Provide day-to-day support during the rollout/implementation of newer systems/processes and gather feedback
  • Communicate daily metrics and report exceptions
  • Act as the responsible and accountable person in respect of the Operator License (O License)
  • Prepare and participate in Operations daily calls to communicate your team's performance to TOM leadership
  • Ensure fleet and driver compliance through active monitoring and reporting
About the Team

Amazon couldn't deliver at pace without the Amazon Transportation Service (ATS) team. As part of ATS, you'll be welcomed into a diverse team that plays a central role in our success. Using air, sea and road transport, as well as sortation centres equipped with the latest technology, you'll help Amazon's transport run at maximum efficiency. Our team captures data and uses it to drive decisions.

Requirements
  • Hold a Transport Managers Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) National and International
  • A Degree
  • Relevant experience in leading a busy and large-scale transport operation within a growing and rapidly scaling business
  • Experience managing people
  • Experience with performance metrics and process improvement and data-driven decision making
  • Experience dealing with ambiguity, working under pressure and handling changing priorities, to effectively prioritize and multitask
  • Relevant experience of communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, including your peers and leadership
  • Advanced proficiency in written and verbal English
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Operations Research, Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain, Economics, Business Administration, or a similar related discipline
  • Experience with a contingent workforce during peak seasons
  • Experience of being named on an Operators Licence within the Transport industry
