About the Role:

Platform Resourcing is collaborating with a client seeking to appoint a Product Innovation Engineer. This is a permanent position that offers diverse responsibilities and the opportunity to engage in multiple projects, providing excellent exposure and avenues for professional growth.


Key Responsibilities:
The role entails close collaboration with production teams, sales personnel, and clients, focusing on the design of tools and fixtures, as well as the development of designs suitable for manufacturing. You will oversee the project lifecycle from initial concept to final production, aiding production teams in enhancing efficiency and productivity while ensuring that customer design specifications are fulfilled to the highest quality standards.


Essential Duties Include:

  • Engineering solutions that align with customer requirements.
  • Developing coating application techniques appropriate for ongoing production in accordance with established New Product Introduction (NPI) procedures.
  • Creating associated machining and finishing processes in collaboration with subcontractors or in-house machinists.
  • Designing fixtures and tooling using Solidworks software.
  • Engaging with and evaluating necessary suppliers as needed.
  • Preparing relevant work instructions based on customer-supplied information.
  • Providing technical support to sales and production teams.
  • Managing application and improvement projects within budget and timelines.
  • Delivering accurate job cost estimates and reviewing manufacturing costs accordingly.
  • Maintaining a customer-facing role, liaising on technical matters alongside the sales team.
  • Participating in meetings and preparing reports for management review as required.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, including the development of practices and procedures.
  • Upholding commercial responsibility at all times, minimizing waste and mitigating unnecessary risks.
  • Ensuring a clean and safe working environment, adhering to the company's quality, health, safety, and environmental management systems.


Required Experience and Skills:

  • Experience in a similar mechanical role, specifically in designing tools, machinery, or plant equipment.
  • Knowledge of metallurgy, metal processing, welding, fabrication processes, and materials science.
  • Strong mechanical design expertise, particularly with Solidworks or similar CAD software.
  • Ability to produce technical drawings.
  • Proficiency in IT, including familiarity with Microsoft software and Solidworks.
  • A keen eye for detail and a results-oriented mindset.
  • Effective communication skills to engage clearly and persuasively with team members, management, and clients.
  • Capability to work under pressure and motivate others to meet tight deadlines.


Desirable Skills/Experience:
Prior experience in environments utilizing industrial robotics, CNC, and CMM machines is advantageous.
