Senior Systems Engineer - Vehicle Features

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in systems engineering, focusing on the concurrent development of our electric vehicle offerings, particularly in defining and delivering software vehicle features.
  • Oversee and manage complex distributed vehicle functionalities, from initial definition to final delivery, across various vehicle domains including Chassis, Body, Powertrain, Autonomous Drive, Digital Cockpit, Infotainment, and Connectivity. This includes creating function description documents, logical architectural diagrams, requirements, and test specifications.
  • Collaborate closely with the Electrical and Software architectures team to ensure vehicle features and their interfaces are aligned with the Electrical Architecture, meeting all quality, safety, and legal standards.
  • Support Project Engineers and Tier 1 suppliers by ensuring a shared technical understanding of vehicle software features and their interfaces, while adhering to feature implementation plans.
  • Assist in coordinating and executing certification activities as required.
  • Work in tandem with the Digital Architecture team to ensure accurate specification and implementation of network database updates that support distributed functions.
  • Partner with the Verification and Validation team to ensure test strategies and plans provide adequate coverage throughout various project stages.
  • Manage engineering changes and address issues that arise during the engineering lifecycle.
  • Utilize engineering design artifacts to conduct impact and root cause analyses of issues, understanding their effects on vehicle systems, and collaborate with stakeholders and domain experts to ensure timely resolutions.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

Candidate Profile:

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in systems engineering, specifically in delivering software-controlled, distributed functions from conception to launch within the automotive electric vehicle sector.
  • Proven experience in delivering vehicle components and functionalities across multiple domains including Chassis, Body, Powertrain, Autonomous Drive, Digital Cockpit, Infotainment, and Connectivity.
  • Familiarity with model-based systems engineering methods, languages, and tools such as SysML, Capella, ArchiMateTM, and Preevision.
  • Extensive experience in generating and analyzing requirements, with knowledge of requirements management tools like Polarion and Doors.
  • Understanding of vehicle electrical architectures, including domain and zonal architectures, distributed vehicle functions, and networks.
  • Knowledge of software architectures and development methodologies, with experience in test and validation teams, and a deep understanding of verification and validation strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis of issues and their impact on vehicle systems, formulating effective solutions.
  • Experience interfacing with Tier 1 suppliers and technology partners, managing the delivery of distributed vehicle functions according to feature implementation plans.
  • Experience working within lean and/or agile engineering frameworks throughout the full product lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with Functional Safety and Cybersecurity standards, along with experience in regulatory compliance processes.
  • Self-motivated, articulate, and capable of providing effective guidance and technical leadership while also excelling in independent initiatives.
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field. Other recognized qualifications combined with relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Possession of INCOSE CSEP or ASEP is a plus.
  • A valid driving license is essential, with no restrictions for working in the UK or traveling abroad.
