South Central Fleet Services Ltd is seeking skilled individuals for the role of Ambulance Vehicle Maintenance Specialist. This position is essential for ensuring the operational readiness of vehicles utilized by the South Central Ambulance Service.
This is a pivotal moment to become part of our dedicated team, contributing significantly to the availability of ambulances that support patient care. Our workshop operates five days a week during standard business hours.
The role of the maintenance specialist is both vital and demanding, focusing on the upkeep and commissioning of specialized vehicles and equipment to meet the highest industry standards. This position provides a unique opportunity to work on a diverse array of vehicles and associated equipment, including lighting systems, surveillance cameras, tracking devices, system controllers, and advanced electronic components.
Key Responsibilities
The primary duties of this role include:
- Conducting commissioning and maintenance of ambulances and other vehicles as per the specifications outlined by South Central Fleet Services Ltd.
- Visiting various trust locations to perform and oversee repairs while adhering to safety protocols.
- Preparing new vehicles for operational service and ensuring the proper disposal of decommissioned vehicles.
- Maintaining accurate records related to vehicle maintenance and repairs.
- Prioritizing health and safety for oneself and others, promptly reporting any hazards or incidents.
- Following established security protocols diligently.
- Participating in training sessions related to vehicle maintenance and repair.
- Making informed decisions regarding vehicle repairs in the absence of the Fleet Supervisor.
- Engaging in all income-generating activities relevant to the Fleet Maintenance operation.
About South Central Fleet Services Ltd
South Central Fleet Services Ltd operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of the South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, tasked with the delivery and maintenance of vehicles for the trust.
Compensation for this role is approximately £32,268 per annum, with opportunities for overtime as needed. Employees are entitled to 25 days of annual leave (based on full-time hours) in addition to public holidays.
Qualifications and Skills
Essential Qualifications:
- City and Guilds Motor Vehicle Craft studies parts 1, 2 & 3 or equivalent qualifications in Motor Vehicle Technology.
- Possession of a valid Full Driving Licence.
