We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Nurse Practitioner to join our team as a Clinical Lead in the Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust.
Key Responsibilities- Provide clinical leadership and guidance to the PICU team to ensure high-quality patient care and outcomes.
- Develop and maintain clinical standards for the service, ensuring compliance with national guidelines and best practices.
- Collaborate with the Unit Manager and other stakeholders to improve patient flow, reduce waiting times, and enhance the overall patient experience.
- Conduct regular audits and quality assurance activities to identify areas for improvement and implement changes as needed.
- Develop and implement education and training programs for staff to enhance their skills and knowledge in psychiatric intensive care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans that meet the unique needs of each patient.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures that promote a culture of safety and quality within the PICU.
- Registered Nurse Mental Health with a formal teaching and assessing course.
- Appraisal skills with the ability to appraise staff within 3 months.
- Risk Assessment & Management skills with the ability to complete assessments within 3 months.
- Significant experience in an acute in-patient setting, managing emergencies, and working in PICU.
- Completion of the Trust's Preceptorship Programme.
- Excellent knowledge of PICU assessment criteria and completion of relevant referral training programs.
- Good working knowledge and understanding of the Mental Health Act, Care Programme Approach, and other legal aspects of mental health care.
- Teaching and presentation experience.
- Crisis Home Treatment experience.
- Working knowledge of Trust and Care Group Clinical Guidelines, Policies, and Procedures.
- Awareness and understanding of NICE guidelines and other national guidelines relating to working-age adult mental health.
