Role Overview
As a key member of the Space and Range team, the Store Planner is tasked with creating and maintaining store layouts using CAD software. This role involves planning new store constructions, refurbishments, and significant project initiatives, alongside continuous improvements and enhancements. Each Store Planner will oversee approximately one-third of the store portfolio.
Primary Responsibilities
- Enhance store performance by optimizing space allocation across categories, utilizing analytical data to guide decisions.
- Ensure that each store adheres to established format principles, delivering a consistent Halfords experience.
- Maintain logical product flows and arrangements that facilitate an intuitive customer journey through the store.
- Communicate the implications of space modifications to relevant teams, ensuring they are equipped with appropriate stock levels, merchandising tools, and point-of-sale materials.
- Serve as a liaison for store teams and Area Managers, addressing inquiries and resolving issues related to store layouts. Monitor, assess, and report on the effects of any requested space adjustments.
- Lead space modifications in collaboration with the Micro Space team, coordinating changes driven by the Range Review process.
- Collaborate with other departments within Store Development and Property teams during in-store projects.
Essential Skills and Experience
- A proactive and sociable team player, eager to learn and share knowledge.
- A solid understanding of retail operations, with prior in-store experience being advantageous.
- High attention to detail and consistency.
- Proficient in Excel and capable of leveraging data for informed decision-making. Familiarity with CAD-based planning software is a plus.
- A confident communicator, able to articulate the rationale behind decisions and represent the Store Planning team effectively across the organization.
