Purpose of the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Operative to join our team at Savills Management Resources. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for carrying out reactive, planned, and preventative maintenance in our 603-apartment development in the centre of Birmingham.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out routine maintenance tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the building and its systems.
  • Conducting investigations into maintenance issues, such as leaks or electrical problems, to identify and resolve the root cause.
  • Performing pre-tenancy works to ensure apartments are ready for new residents, including painting, decorating, and repairing woodwork.
  • Working to tight deadlines to minimize void losses and ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Basic plumbing, furniture repairs, and other maintenance tasks as required.
  • Ensuring that all maintenance work is carried out to a high standard and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Reporting job status to the line manager in a timely manner and maintaining accurate records of activities undertaken.
  • Informing the line manager of stock inventory and order requirements to ensure that the necessary materials are available.
  • Collaborating with other members of the facilities team to ensure that maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Participating in fire alarm testing, emergency lighting checks, and water temperature checks as required.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a maintenance or facilities role.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Basic plumbing and carpentry skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends.
