About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Executive to lead the National Alternative Protein Innovation Centre (NAPIC) as its Chief Executive Officer. Located at the University of Leeds, you will be responsible for chairing the Executive Management Board and reporting to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Research and Innovation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a wide range of operational and strategic initiatives in partnership with the Executive Management Board and external stakeholders.
  • Create a successful interface between NAPIC partners, including government and industry, and build strong, long-lasting links with strategic partners to deliver NAPIC's longer-term financial sustainability.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to drive the National Protein Strategy for the UK, leveraging the University of Leeds' world-leading science base.
  • Oversee the development and commercialization of alternative protein products and services, ensuring alignment with the University's research and innovation priorities.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders across the University and industry to foster a culture of innovation, entrepreneurship, and knowledge exchange.
Requirements
  • Proven track record of senior management and strategic development in alternative protein or allied sectors.
  • Strong understanding of strategic business functions, including intellectual property management and commercialization.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to think strategically and drive innovation, with a focus on delivering business growth and sustainability.
