Defence Business Services Senior DevOps Engineer

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled DevOps engineer to join our team at Defence Business Services. As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for providing mentoring and practical support to team members on all areas of the Oracle Analytics Server (OAS) product and related technical matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide technical guidance and support to team members on OAS and related technical matters.
  2. Offer service operational support for a large enterprise reporting application within an ITIL aligned service management framework.
  3. Effectively resolve service tickets raised and manage the team's workload.
  4. Implement service improvements by providing fully documented responses to new business requirements, problem remediation, and improvement activities.
  5. Develop complete software capabilities (OAS) with testing and deployment, utilizing agile methodologies.
  6. Represent and advocate for the AFVS MI & Data business area in technical discussions with contractors, product vendors, and other MOD departments.
  7. Collaborate closely with contractor resources and technical teams to ensure coherent and effective solutions, and support routine monitoring activities.
  8. Build, maintain, and review technical design documentation for the reporting platform, applying relevant standards to ensure high service quality.

Requirements:

  1. Programming and build (software engineering) Level 3: Practitioner
  2. Prototyping Level 3: Practitioner
  3. Service Support Level 4: Expert
  4. Systems Integration Level 3: Practitioner
  5. User Focus Level 3: Practitioner
  6. Systems design Level 3: Practitioner

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  1. Experience working within Agile Teams
  2. Familiarity with Oracle EBS HR/Payroll or equivalent ERP products
  3. ITIL experience and/or certification
