Ophthalmic Technician

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a vital role in enhancing the patient's pathway from referral to treatment through the Ophthalmology Outpatient department.
Main ResponsibilitiesAs an Ophthalmic Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out essential tests to support the work of medical and nursing staff in the Eye Department. This will include visual acuity testing, OCT imaging, and other diagnostic procedures. You will also be required to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and build strong relationships with staff and colleagues.
Person SpecificationWe are looking for a candidate with previous experience within a healthcare setting, preferably in ophthalmology. You will need to have good communication skills, be able to prioritize workload and manage your time effectively, and be able to work calmly under pressure. A GCSE in English and Maths is essential, and NVQ 3 is desirable. You will also need to be willing to undertake and complete Care certificate and observational training.
