We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our Department of Materials within the Faculty of Engineering at Imperial College London. As a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Reader in Theory and Simulation of Materials, you will be responsible for leading research activities and programmes of outstanding quality, international repute, and innovation in the area of Theory and Simulation of Materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, direct, and undertake the implementation of research activities and programmes of outstanding quality, international repute, and innovation in the area of Theory and Simulation of Materials.
  • Develop and maintain a strong research profile, including the publication of high-quality research papers and the securing of research funding.
  • Teach and assess undergraduate and postgraduate students, including the preparation and delivery of lectures and other classes.
  • Supervise and assess laboratory classes, group exercises, and research projects.
  • Contribute to the development and performance of colleagues through coaching and mentoring.
  • Act as a role model in areas of research, teaching, and management as appropriate.

Requirements:

  • PhD in the physical sciences, engineering, or a related field or equivalent.
  • A developing national reputation and expertise in the field of Theory and Simulation of Materials.
  • An ability to articulate a clear research vision which complements existing work.
  • Experience of preparing grant applications for submission.
  • A portfolio of high-quality research publications, confirming national standing (commensurate with career stage).
  • Experience of training undergraduate and postgraduate students and evidence of an aptitude for teaching.
  • Experience of supporting and working with PhD students.
  • Experience or proven interest in collaborating with experimental groups and/or industry.
