Position Overview
The CNC Operator plays a vital role within our state-of-the-art CAD/CAM manufacturing facility. This position involves utilizing multi-axis CNC machining centers for turning, milling, and grinding operations to create customized components from diverse materials such as steel, copper, brass, aluminum, and bronze.

Key Qualifications

  • Possession of HNC or SVQ/NVQ level 4 in Mechanical Engineering, or a completed apprenticeship in a machining discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience operating CNC machine tools in a lean manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with machine control systems, including Fanuc, Mazak, Heidenhain, or Haas.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain tight machining tolerances of less than .0025mm.
  • Proficient in using precision inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and bore gauges.
  • Experience in sectors such as power generation, oil & gas, or aerospace is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze process sheets, blueprints, and sketches to determine machining requirements and specifications.
  • Access and download programs from a DNC storage system.
  • Interpret and follow work instructions accurately.
  • Select and install appropriate tooling for various operations.
  • Calculate feeds and speeds for different materials.
  • Edit or write complete programs as necessary.
  • Understand the capabilities of tooling and machinery intuitively.
  • Comply with quality systems and conduct necessary inspections.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing principles to enhance productivity and reduce setup times.
  • Visually inspect final components for quality assurance.
  • Package finished products, ensuring proper cleaning, oiling, wrapping, and boxing for shipment.
  • Perform maintenance tasks such as cleaning, fitting, filing, tapping, reaming, blending, polishing, and aligning to ensure optimal operation.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments for quality verification.
  • Accurately identify components post-assembly or manufacture.
