Job Title: Part-time Tax Accountant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced part-time Tax Accountant to join our team at Hays Senior Finance. As a key member of our Finance & Commercial department, you will be responsible for handling VAT and corporation tax matters, supporting major projects/contracts, and providing complex tax advice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Primary contact for all projects/contracts, providing tax advice to support financial business modelling and decision-making.
  • Production of statutory returns for VAT, calculation of partial exemption, and capital goods scheme.
  • Ensure the organisation's companies are compliant with tax affairs.
  • Corporation tax returns, VAT matrix maintenance, and tax legislation interpretation.
  • Production and management of tax guidance, self-help service for VAT queries, and support for the Financial Controller.
  • Annual review and reporting of the organisation's tax position, identification of relevant systems, and liaison with auditors.

Requirements:

  • Experience in a similar position, qualified (ACA, ACCA, CTA, ATT, or qualified by experience).
  • Up-to-date knowledge of FRS102 and recent experience of dealing with VAT and Corporation tax matters.
  • Liaising with HMRC and ability to interpret and explain tax legislation to non-finance team members.
  • Strong communication skills, experience managing workloads, and a proactive and analytical mindset.
  • Trained in finance/tax systems and MS Excel skills.

  • Salary between £45,000 - £54,000 per annum, pro rata over hours per week.
