About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Multi Trade Engineer to join our team at Unite Students. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for delivering planned preventative maintenance, responsive repairs, and ensuring the delivery of safe, warm, working homes to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out repairs and remedy defects to UniteStudents properties as instructed by Facilities Managers and Team Leaders.
  • Deliver planned preventative maintenance to ensure the delivery of safe, warm, working homes to our customers.
  • Undertake a range of tasks including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting and decorating, plastering repairs, tiling, masonry repairs, and general building maintenance.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety legislation and ensure a safe and secure working environment.
  • Accountable for the quality of the maintenance and repair work delivered.
  • Ensure that the work delivered meets the correct Unite Students standard.
  • Carry out dynamic risk assessments to ensure that you are in a safe working environment and escalate issues to your line management.
  • Complete all digital job tickets required for the works you deliver, raising follow-on works orders where necessary and to be compliant with Unite Students policies and procedures.
  • Raise any maintenance, repair concerns that you identify when performing the tasks that you have been assigned.
Requirements
  • G3 Certificate in unvented hot water.
  • Minimum of entry-level skills in construction to deliver general duties and minor repairs.
  • A level of experience above all else.
  • NVQ L2 in other related skills would be useful, but not essential.
  • Desirable: relevant construction and facilities management qualifications.
  • Have relevant post-experience.
  • Be competent and qualified to safely operate tools and equipment.
  • Understanding of Health and Safety responsibilities.
  • Understanding of safe systems of work.
  • Good communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to work at pace whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to offer flexibility in working hours and to take part in the on-call rota.
  • Ability to work contracted hours over a 5/7 working pattern.
