Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pre-School Setting Leader to join our team at Powys County Council. As a key member of our early years provision, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality care and education for children in our settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of senior staff, coordinate and manage the day-to-day running of the setting, ensuring high-quality provision and a warm, welcoming environment for children and carers.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in practice.
  • Manage the learning environment, setting up, preparing, and maintaining learning resources, creating displays of children's work, and evaluating areas of continuous provision.
  • Undertake administrative tasks, including completion of returns and admission arrangements, ensuring the setting is safe, well-organized, and maintained at all times.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, and security, confidentiality, and data protection, and report concerns as appropriate.
  • Contribute to the self-evaluation of provision, aligning with CIW and/or Estyn guidance, and take responsibility as the 'Person in Charge' under CIW regulations.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Significant experience in a similar setting, with a strong understanding of early years provision and practice.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire staff.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills, with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with staff, children, and carers.
  • Knowledge of CIW policies, procedures, and guidelines, and ability to apply them in practice.
