Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Wantage Primary Care Network. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and accurate supply of prescribed medication to patients.

Main Responsibilities
  • Process repeat medication requests and prepare prescriptions in accordance with practice policy.
  • Deal with medication queries and provide appropriate advice and guidance to patients.
  • Process discharge summaries and add medication changes from 111 reports and clinic letters.
  • Work within both practice prescription teams and communicate with the broader practice MDT and community pharmacies.
  • Advising patients on their medication or any possible side effects.
  • Work with patients to promote healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Assist with audits and safety searches.
About Us

Wantage Primary Care Network has a list size of approximately 34,000 patients. We share the same ethos of supportive learning and jointly occupy a modern health centre.

You will work alongside our GPs, nurse teams, administrators, and extended workforce, including clinical pharmacists, a pharmacy technician, first contact physiotherapists, mental health practitioners, frailty practitioners, care coordinators, social prescribers, and Children & Young Persons wellbeing worker.

Both practices have a commitment to mentoring and supporting their clinical staff.

Person Specification
  • GPhC Registration.
  • NVQ L3 or equivalent qualification in pharmacy services.
  • Effective communication.
  • Understanding of pharmacy laws, ethics, and terminology.
  • Knowledge of principle of optimisation.
  • Good IT skills and knowledge of clinical systems.
  • Excellent organisation skills.
  • Team player.

  • Ability to work well under pressure and to tight timescales.
