Position Overview

This is a remarkable opportunity for a highly skilled Senior Physiotherapist (Team Leader) to become a vital member of our trauma rehabilitation team within a prominent Major Trauma Centre.

The role is pivotal in facilitating effective rehabilitation for patients within the trauma wards, encompassing a clinical caseload that includes non-ambulatory trauma and ortho-plastic trauma cases.

As part of our commitment to multidisciplinary team (MDT) service delivery, you will collaborate closely with Senior Therapy colleagues and Clinical Specialist Physiotherapists across critical care, neurosciences, and outpatient services.

We are looking for a physiotherapist who possesses the necessary expertise in managing acute trauma, inpatient rehabilitation, and effective MDT collaboration.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work alongside fellow Senior Physiotherapists (Team Leaders) to ensure the delivery of a high-quality physiotherapy service, sharing management duties and promoting the ethos of exceptional care for trauma patients. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting staff development and providing supervision and clinical education to both staff and undergraduate students on placement.
  • Taking a lead role in the advanced assessment and treatment of a diverse range of complex patients.
  • Proactively developing and enhancing clinical practices within this specialty area.
  • Collaborating with the SHARP team (Specialist Hyper Acute Rehabilitation Pathway) to manage trauma patients with intricate presentations.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Relevant Physiotherapy or professional qualification, MCSP/BSc or MSc.
  • Registration with the Health Care Professions Council.
  • CSP or equivalent professional registration.
  • Evidence of commitment to advanced clinical and non-clinical continued professional development within the specialty.
  • Relevant accredited postgraduate education/courses in physiotherapy.

Experience

Essential:

  • Significant post-registration experience, particularly within inpatient trauma as a senior physiotherapist in an NHS setting.
  • Experience in staff management, including supervision and performance management.
  • Extensive experience in the education and clinical training of others.
  • Some experience in clinical/service evaluation.
  • Proficient knowledge and skills in the specialist assessment and treatment of complex acute trauma patients.
  • Strong understanding of anatomy and physiology.
  • Awareness of current evidence in trauma physiotherapy and its application in clinical practice.
  • Good understanding of IT systems and their application in clinical settings.
