About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Management Accountant to join our Finance Business Partnering and Reporting team at SNG Formerly Sovereign Housing Association. As a Senior Management Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting our Customer and Communities teams by delivering timely, accurate, and comprehensive internal financial management accounts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Analysis and Reporting: Support the Senior Finance Business Partner to ensure the team delivers robust analysis and commentary explaining monthly performance variances against Budgets and Forecasts, highlighting Risks and Opportunities, and supporting the business with forecasting.
  • Business Partnering: Identify, implement, and share proactive ways to improve business partnering for Customer and Communities teams, taking the lead in driving projects and initiatives through to completion with support from the rest of the team.
  • Forecasting and Budgeting: Continually improve forecasting by providing high-quality insight and pattern analysis to budget holders, recommending areas that need focus and ways to improve.
  • Period End Procedures: Take the lead in managing period-end procedures to support timely and accurate delivery of monthly management reporting, including variance analysis, follow-up, and detailed commentary.
  • Budget and Forecasting Process: Take responsibility for the budget and forecasting process, using your experience to support budget holders and knowing when to encourage, when to instruct, and when to push back.
  • Financial Presentations: Deliver robust analysis of actuals to ensure accurate accounting, understanding, and analysis with recommendations for Senior Management.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Present financial reports to Senior Management teams and key stakeholders, being able to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial colleagues.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with demonstrable experience in a similar Senior Management accounting role, ideally within a large or complex organization.
  • Skills and Experience: Strong, clear working knowledge of processes and controls surrounding budgeting, forecasting, and management account preparation, including detailed report writing and analysis.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Effective communicator with the ability to build trusting relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Presentational Skills: Experience in presenting financial reports, data, and insights clearly and confidently to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Advisory and Influencing Skills: Ability to advise and influence key stakeholders of all levels in the business.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Proactively challenge, introducing new ideas to drive the progressive development of the business.
  • Technical Skills: Highly numerate with strong IT skills, including MS Word and Excel.
  • Time Management and Prioritization: Work well to deadlines, prioritizing workloads effectively.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility: Demonstrate strong analytical skills with the ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs, demonstrating a logical approach to your work.
