We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as an Interim Public Affairs Manager. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the success of Basildon Borough Council and contribute to the development of our public affairs strategy.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert advice to senior politicians and stakeholders, building relationships, and coordinating communications activity. You will work closely with our Communications team and other key council officers to develop stakeholder maps, track opportunities for influence, and make our voice heard with key government and partner organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialist advice to senior politicians and stakeholders on public affairs and communications
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government, partner organizations, and local businesses
- Coordinate communications activity, including media relations, social media, and stakeholder engagement
- Develop and implement stakeholder maps and tracking opportunities for influence
- Work closely with the Communications team to develop and implement a public affairs strategy
Requirements:
- Proven experience in public affairs, communications, or a related field
- Strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government, partner organizations, and local businesses
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
