Job Description

Freight Personnel is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operations Manager - Freight and Logistics to join our team. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for driving the development and innovation of our 3PL product and managing third-party logistics service providers to enhance relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Day-to-Day Operations: Manage the day-to-day running of our Basildon warehouse and freight office, ensuring policies and procedures are followed in accordance with company mandates and external certifications.
  • Branch Development: Assist in the development and maintenance of a high-performing, customer-focused branch facility, implementing and managing strategic and operational plans to meet short and long-term objectives and goals.
  • Employee Management: Ensure employees are trained, measured, and managed in the execution of company operational processes and standards, negotiating and monitoring supplier contracts as necessary.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Prepare timely, accurate management information and reporting as required, supporting the teams in their daily duties and addressing failures and analyzing root cause.
  • Client Liaison: Serve as a client liaison and escalation point for problems, ensuring service levels are maintained and supporting the teams in their daily duties.
Requirements
  • Leadership Experience: Demonstrated track record in leading/managing operations teams, with strong leadership, financial analysis, negotiation, and customer satisfaction skills.
  • Industry Knowledge: Knowledge and experience of all transport modes (Air, Ocean, and Road), 3PL, and warehousing activities, with knowledge of Customs formalities and AEO experience.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal, communication, change management, and presentation skills (written and verbal), with the ability to effectively resolve customer complaints and problems.
  • Organizational Skills: Organized with an excellent attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Package and Benefits
  • Salary: £40,000 to £50,000 per annum.
  • Annual Leave: 31 days, increasing by 1 day per year after 3 years' service, up to a maximum of 36 days.
