Job Title: Academic Research Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Academic Research Manager to join our team at UK Research and Innovation. As a key member of our Strategic Hub, you will play a critical role in shaping our research initiatives, investments, and partnerships to drive cutting-edge data science that addresses real-world challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a strategic research agenda that aligns with our mission to unlock the power of data.
  • Build and maintain effective networks with research communities, government agencies, and industry partners to deliver outcomes.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of a data policy function, including scoping and securing legal and ethical resources.
  • Contribute to the development of strategies and activities led by other parts of the SDR UK Hub, including data infrastructures, capability, and public engagement.

Requirements:

  • Highly developed strategic skills, including the ability to map the landscape, identify and prioritise opportunities, and make effective decisions.
  • Experience of building and maintaining effective networks with different communities to deliver outcomes.
  • Understanding and experience of the use of data, analysis, or research.
  • Understanding and experience of the UK data policy landscape, including governance, legislation, and ethics.
  • An understanding of the UK academic funding environment.
