The Department of Oncology comprises a team of experienced Consultant Oncologists, providing comprehensive care to the population of Shropshire and Mid-Wales.
Main Responsibilities- Provide a comprehensive Oncology Service, collaborating with consultant colleagues to develop site-specialised cancer services.
- Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care.
- Participate in out-of-hours services and provide acute oncology care.
- Liaise with surgeons, physicians, and staff in other specialties to ensure seamless care.
- Supervise and manage junior medical staff, promoting professional development.
- Contribute to teaching, research, and continuing education, both locally and nationally.
- Undertake clinical audit, continuing medical education, and participate in the annual appraisal process.
- Engage in research, with opportunities to participate in clinical trials.
The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is a leading provider of acute hospital services, serving a population of around half a million people in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, and mid Wales. Our main service locations are the Princess Royal Hospital and the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, which provide a wide range of acute hospital services, including accident & emergency, outpatients, diagnostics, inpatient medical care, and critical care.
Job PlanA formal job plan will be agreed between the successful candidate and their Clinical Director and consultant colleagues, outlining the consultant's duties, responsibilities, and objectives for the coming year. The job plan will be reviewed annually and will provide a clear schedule of commitments, both internal and external.
