Accredited Senior Clinical Coder

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Accredited Senior Clinical Coder to join our team at Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our clinical coding team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of coded data.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of clinical coding principles and practices, with experience in using healthcare/IT systems and a keen eye for detail. You will work independently, using your initiative to ensure timely submission of coded data, while also mentoring and supporting colleagues.

Key Responsibilities- Ensure clinical data is accurately coded and entered onto the Trust's information system within agreed timeframes.
- Adhere to national procedures and guidelines for clinical coding, as well as local procedures for individual specialties/consultants.
- Work under pressure to meet local/national deadlines, while maintaining high standards of data quality.
- Liaise with medical staff, clinical coding porters, medical secretaries, and ward personnel to ensure smooth access to case notes.
- Attend training sessions and workshops to maintain expertise in ICD10 and OPCS4 coding standards.
- Raise any coding issues or concerns with the Team Manager or Professional Lead.
- Work closely with clinicians and managers to resolve any issues in the clinical coding process.

Person Specification- Educated to 5 GCSE's at grade C or above.
- A level Biology or equivalent work experience.
- Willing to attend all necessary training sessions and clinical coding workshops.
- Good understanding of the rules of clinical coding.
- To have attended training in all acute specialty areas of ICD10 and OPCS coding.
- A detailed understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Experience in the use of Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.
- Recent employment in a Clinical Coding Role.
- 2 years of relevant work experience, including experience with clinical terminology and ICD10 and OPCS4 or equivalent demonstrable experience.
- Use of 3M encoder or other relevant coding support software.
- Use of Millennium patient administration system.
- A good understanding of the relevance of clinical coding in the context of HRGs and Payment by results.
- Helps and cooperates with colleagues.
- Required to handle medical records.
This is a permanent full-time position, with flexible working patterns available. The salary is £29,970 to £36,483 per annum, pro-rata. We offer a range of benefits, including a pension scheme, annual leave, and access to training and development opportunities.
