Responsibilities of the Culinary Specialist include:
Assisting the Head Chef in the daily operations of the kitchen. Ensuring proper food storage practices and stock rotation according to established guidelines. Preparing, planning, and cooking meals to consistently high standards, accommodating special requests and dietary needs. Serving meals and beverages to service users, staff, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner. Preparing and producing food for events and gatherings. Participating in food cost management through effective cost control measures. Complying with 'Safer Food Better Business' standards and maintaining accurate records. Adhering to Food Hygiene Regulations and safety protocols at all times. Taking full responsibility for the catering operations during your shift. Supporting the Head Chef in researching and developing new menus that align with healthy eating guidelines. Accurately completing all documentation related to the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) system, including temperature logs and cleaning schedules.To excel in this position, you will need:
To be at least 18 years of age. GCSE or equivalent in English. City & Guilds 706/1 and 2 (or equivalent) in Basic Food Preparation and Cooking. Basic Food Hygiene certification (essential). Intermediate Food Hygiene certification (desirable). Previous experience in a similar culinary environment. Experience in delivering mass catering services. Skills in menu planning, costing, ordering, stock control, and budgeting.Work Environment:
