Mechanical Technician Job Description

Astute People is partnering with a leading Energy company to recruit a Mechanical Technician for their Energy from Waste Power Station in Glasgow, Scotland.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining mechanical assets, including steam boilers, pumps, gearboxes, valves, hydraulics, pneumatics, and compressed air systems. They will work in line with maintenance techniques and best practices to ensure compliance with pressure regulations and lifting gear inspection requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Fault finding and maintaining mechanical assets
  • Working in line with maintenance techniques and best practices
  • Ensuring compliance with pressure regulations and lifting gear inspection requirements
  • Assisting in plant developments and projects
  • Supervising and setting to work on site contractors
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records on the site Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Assisting in outage planning, scheduling, and coordination

This is a Monday to Friday role, working 40 hours per week with 1 in 3 weeks being on call. The ideal candidate will have an NVQ Level 3 qualification in a relevant engineering discipline such as Mechanical Engineering.

Requirements:
  • Hands on maintenance experience with mechanical systems
  • Practical knowledge of process plant and equipment gained in a heavy engineering environment
  • Royal/Merchant Navy Marine Engineers will also be considered for this opportunity

The Mechanical Technician role offers a salary of £48,114 (inclusive of on-call payment) + Overtime (1.5x) + up to 10% Bonus + benefits.
