Job Title: Waste Management Operative

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Waste Management Operative to join our team at Essex County Council. As a key member of our Recycling Centre team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the public with queries and complaints in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Contribute to safe and efficient site operations, including waste movements and storage.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy site, adhering to health and safety protocols.
  • Provide clear instructions to subcontractors and hauliers.
  • Administer tasks to support processes, paperwork, and compliance processes.

Requirements:

  • GCSE level (or equivalent) in English and Maths or NVQ level.
  • Computer literacy, especially in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • General good health, able to work on foot for lengthy periods.
  • IOSH Working Safely or equivalent safety accreditation desirable.
  • Desirable: NPORS or similar Plant Operators Licence/Qualification on Material Handler, with previous experience operating plant machinery preferably within the waste industry.

Additional Requirements:

The post holder will need to have a driving licence and access to a vehicle, or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means.
