Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity is available for a dedicated and skilled Senior Project Coordinator to contribute to the National 6 Goals for Urgent and Emergency Care Programme.

The Six Goals Programme aims to assist Health Boards and their collaborators in enhancing the delivery of Urgent and Emergency Care services across Wales.

These Six Goals, developed in collaboration with clinical and professional leaders, encompass the Urgent and Emergency Care pathway and align with the Programme for Government's priorities to ensure effective, high-quality, and sustainable healthcare is accessible as close to home as possible, while also improving service access and integration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the development, upkeep, and oversight of delivery plans and project documentation for the national initiative, including corporate governance, risk management, and issue tracking as necessary.
  • Coordinate and assist Goal leads in achieving workstream objectives, offering project-related advice and support as required.
  • Assist the National Programme Manager in the timely preparation and coordination of national Board documentation and general programme materials.
  • Welsh language proficiency is desirable for this role; applications from both Welsh and/or English speakers are encouraged.

Qualifications and Expertise

  • Essential:
    • Degree-level education or equivalent practical experience.
    • Extensive specialist knowledge across various disciplines, including project management, planning, governance, and service design, supported by relevant experience.
    • In-depth understanding of risk management and governance.
    • Experience working within the NHS (in urgent primary care or ambulance service contexts) and broader organizations (local government).
  • Desirable:
    • Possession of an accredited Project Management qualification such as PRINCE2, APM, or MSP.
    • Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies, including PRINCE2 Agile, Kanban, and Scrum.

Experience

  • Essential:
    • Proven experience in successful project management, including techniques for planning, monitoring, and controlling projects.
    • Experience delivering projects within complex organizations, including health and social care sectors.
    • Proven ability to support a corporate body with a Board and formal governance structure.

Skills and Attributes

  • Essential:
    • Proficient in standard Microsoft O365 applications, including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
    • Experience with project management software such as Microsoft Project, Planner, and DevOps.
    • Ability to cultivate effective working relationships on both individual and multidisciplinary levels with all staff tiers, demonstrating active listening and receptiveness to appropriate change.
    • Strong communication skills, capable of effectively engaging with colleagues, patients, clinical staff, and other agencies, including professional representative bodies, Executive Directors, Chief Executives, and senior civil servants.
