Job Summary

The Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for handling new tender enquiries, liaising with professional teams and principal contractors, and leading the pricing of mechanical services. This is a challenging role that requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organize site surveys and understand survey requirements and submission methods.
  • Attend tender interviews with client teams and principal contractors.
  • Liaise with internal departments to gather key information for tender enquiries.
  • Understand employer requirements and tender documents to dispatch enquiries to subcontractors, specialist subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Assess suitability of subcontractor quotes and compliance with tender documents, achieving best value at tender stage.
  • Undertake take-offs of tender drawings and input data into estimation software.
  • Ensure all elements of tender are accounted for prior to submission.
  • Stipulate cost reports, taking into consideration required mark-up.
  • Upon tender success, lead tender handover meetings with operations and commercial teams, providing ongoing assistance throughout the project duration.

Requirements

  • Background in Mechanical Estimating is essential.
  • Experience working in the commercial sector is essential.
  • Have an Engineering Background and be familiar with tender Design and Build Schemes as well as build only.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Be keen to develop and progress within the Estimating Department.
