About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Psychologist to join our Community Learning Disability Team in West Dorset. As a Clinical Psychologist, you will provide psychological assessment, formulation, and treatment to adults with learning disabilities who have a range of psychological conditions.

Our team of psychologists have a number of therapy specialties, including EMDR, CAT, ACT, and CBT. We are involved in various initiatives, such as developing the dementia pathway, creating therapy packs, capacity assessments, and more.

You will assist with supervision to assistant psychologists and guide doctoral trainee clinical psychologists on placement. We provide excellent clinical supervision, support, and opportunities for professional development.

We offer a comprehensive Preceptorship Programme from Band 7 to Band 8a for this role. This is a great opportunity to consolidate and develop core skills learned during clinical training, under the supervision of highly skilled and experienced clinical psychologists.

Main Duties
  • Provide psychological assessment, formulation, and treatment to adults with learning disabilities.
  • Develop and implement therapy plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Assist with supervision of assistant psychologists and guide doctoral trainee clinical psychologists on placement.
  • Participate in service development initiatives, such as developing the dementia pathway and creating therapy packs.

Requirements
  • Post-graduate doctorate in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS or HCPC.
  • Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis as practiced within the field of clinical psychology.
  • Experience of clinical supervision for trainee and assistant clinical psychologists.
  • Knowledge of legislation, white papers, etc. and implications for both clinical practice and professional management in relation to older adults and adults with Learning Disabilities.
