Safety and Compliance Specialist


Are you dedicated to fostering a secure and healthy workplace while enhancing the performance of a prominent agricultural organization? We are in search of a proficient and enthusiastic Safety and Compliance Specialist to become part of our vibrant team on a part-time basis.

We require a seasoned Safety and Compliance Specialist to ensure adherence to health and safety regulations across the organization.

Your role will involve formulating policies aimed at establishing and upholding a secure work environment.
As a Safety and Compliance Specialist, you will possess keen attention to detail to pinpoint risks. You will also be adept at identifying opportunities for enhancing conditions and implementing various safety initiatives. Effective communication of guidelines to a diverse workforce is crucial.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and sustain comprehensive health, safety, and environmental management systems in accordance with regulatory standards and industry best practices.
  • Conduct routine inspections and audits to detect potential hazards and ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations.
  • Offer guidance and support to staff and management regarding health, safety, and environmental issues.
  • Collaborate closely with site management, Human Resources, and Occupational Health to ensure thorough investigations are conducted in line with employment law following any health concerns raised.
  • Establish and maintain robust reporting mechanisms to monitor and analyze safety performance metrics.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to create and deliver training programs and initiatives that foster a safety-oriented culture.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures to effectively manage potential crises or disasters.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement and lead the implementation of effective safety and environmental initiatives.
  • Maintain precise records and documentation related to health, safety, and environmental activities.

Essential Skills:

  • Proven experience as a Health, Safety, and Environment Manager in a manufacturing context.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of pertinent health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
  • Professional certifications in health, safety, and environmental management.
  • NEBOSH diploma in Occupational Safety and Health.
  • Membership of IOSH is desirable.
  • Proficiency in utilizing safety management software and tools.

  • Strong reporting and analytical skills with the capability to interpret data and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fostering genuine relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • Strong general management abilities, including task prioritization, resource management, and results-driven focus.
  • Approachable, authentic, and capable of maintaining perspective in challenging situations.
