Position Overview: This role is designed to provide coverage for a maternity leave within the Countywide Complex Lives Team on a fixed-term basis. Internal candidates are encouraged to consider this opportunity as a secondment.

Team Objectives: The primary focus of the team is to engage in initiatives within the Learning Disability and/or Autism Programme. This includes facilitating the discharge of individuals from prolonged hospital stays, necessitating specialized placements, and addressing cases governed by the Mental Health Act 1983. The team also collaborates with commissioners, healthcare professionals, and the ICB Learning Disability and/or Autism Programme to avert hospital admissions and assist in managing community placement challenges.

Work Environment: You will be operating in a dynamic and occasionally demanding setting, closely partnering with external agencies and service providers. This role demands a high degree of confidence and autonomy, along with robust leadership capabilities to supervise Social Workers within the team.

Candidate Profile: Ideal candidates will possess experience in innovative approaches to support adults with care and support needs. A commitment to strengths-based practice principles, promoting independence and well-being while effectively managing risks, is essential. In return, you will receive comprehensive support and training to enhance your professional growth, including regular formal and informal supervision tailored to the complexities of the casework.

Essential Qualifications: A thorough understanding and practical experience with the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Mental Health Act 1983 are required. Candidates must be qualified Social Workers and hold qualifications as a Practice Educator, BIA, or AMHP.

Working Arrangement: The team operates under a hybrid working model, combining office and home-based work alongside the CFT team. Effective communication, negotiation, organizational, and IT skills are crucial for fostering flexible working practices.

Additional Requirements: Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for work-related purposes. In cases where disability prevents this, a taxi service will be provided. Registration with Social Work England is mandatory.

Benefits:

  • Access to the latest technology for flexible working
  • Mileage reimbursement
  • Electric vehicle leasing options
  • A structured career pathway with comprehensive induction and ongoing professional development
  • Excellent occupational pension scheme
  • A supportive and flexible work environment
  • Generous annual leave in addition to statutory bank holidays

If you are a compassionate and resilient professional who enjoys creatively supporting individuals within the community, we would be pleased to consider your application.
