Job Title: Apprentice Structural Engineer

JMS Group, a leading civil and structural engineering firm, is seeking an Apprentice Structural Engineer to join our team at our Ipswich office. With over 25 years of experience in the construction industry, we employ a team of 45+ staff who work together to deliver high-quality designs for a diverse range of projects.

We are looking for an individual with a keen interest in the construction industry, buildings, or water/drainage systems. As an Apprentice Structural Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, from small domestic extensions to large, multi-storey apartment and office developments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete an apprenticeship programme of learning and modular work, predominantly in the workplace, with opportunities to attend external training courses.
  • Develop knowledge of varying building techniques and materials used in the construction industry.
  • With support, interpret Engineers design briefs, and undertake design analysis and compiling reports in compliance with British Standards and Euro-codes.
  • Conduct site inspections and gather relevant data to compile comprehensive reports.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with both internal and external clients, building and maintaining positive relations.

  • Competent with computers and able to learn new software.
  • Problem solver, able to offer solutions to challenges.
  • Able to work and collaborate as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Confident, articulate, collaborative, and proactive.
  • Eagerness to learn and to develop your skills and career with training support.
  • Good time management and organisational skills to efficiently manage workload.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
