About the Role

The Traffic and Flood Risk Management Service area is seeking a proactive and efficient individual to support the Flood Risk Management Team in effectively managing, developing, and delivering the flooding duties of the City Council.

The Senior Officer will be responsible for implementing the duties as required by the Flood Risk Regulations 2009, Flood and Water Management Act 2010, and Land Drainage Act 1991 as they apply to Nottingham City Council.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to develop creative solutions to meet service priorities, work proactively in a multi-functional transportation/flood mitigation team environment, and assist in securing new funding arrangements through researching and submitting funding bids/applications on behalf of the service and its partners.

The successful candidate will also support proactive engagement with communities and citizens at risk of flooding to promote improved resilience and self-help measures.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Implementing the duties as required by the Flood Risk Regulations 2009, Flood and Water Management Act 2010, and Land Drainage Act 1991 as they apply to Nottingham City Council.
  • Assisting in the development of creative solutions to meet service priorities.
  • Working proactively in a multi-functional transportation/flood mitigation team environment.
  • Assisting in securing new funding arrangements through researching and submitting funding bids/applications on behalf of the service and its partners.
  • Supporting proactive engagement with communities and citizens at risk of flooding.
  • Liaising with Emergency Planners and the LRF to ensure an appropriate flood incident management plan.
  • Collating and maintaining a register of all drainage assets throughout the City.
