Associate Director of Planning Job Description

A prestigious consultancy is seeking an experienced Associate Director of Planning to join their team in London. As a key member of the specialist disputes division, you will work with experts to provide top-notch planning and alternative dispute resolution services to clients worldwide.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct forensic analysis in alternative dispute resolution (ADR) and provide clear, impartial evidence for tribunals.
  • Manage and develop the planning team, ensuring seamless project delivery and exceptional client satisfaction.
  • Control, manage, and report contractual obligations from procurement to final account, ensuring timely and cost-effective project completion.
  • Determine schedules, monitor programmes, and understand risks to ensure project success.
  • Write reports that can be used in negotiations, formal dispute resolution procedures, including adjudication, mediation, and litigation.
  • Accurately assess progress and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Participate in business development and help generate new work and clients for the consultancy.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience as a construction project planner.
  • Proven experience in delay analysis, with the ability to write narratives to a high standard.
  • Pre- and post-contract planning experience on large-scale, complex projects.
  • Ability to produce programmes and schedules for live projects and interpret those written by third parties.
  • Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to contribute to reports and use persuasive language.
  • Leadership and management experience, with a proven track record of team success.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements:
  • Degree-level education in a construction-related field or similar equivalent qualification.
  • Relevant MSc in engineering and/or Construction Law and Disputes LLM would be a strong advantage.
