Job Description:

We are currently recruiting for a part-time Support Worker to join our team at Central Recruitment Services Ltd. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing support to clients at risk of homelessness, rough sleepers, and those who require assistance with independent living skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hold a caseload of key clients and conduct regular key working sessions
  • Establish honest, open, working relationships with individuals living with long-term, complex issues
  • Utilise an asset-based approach to working with individuals
  • Support, encourage, and motivate people to work towards short-term goals which support their long-term aspirations
  • Carry out assessments, deliver appropriate interventions, and make appropriate referrals to ensure service users have all the support they need in place
  • Liaise with and build positive, sustainable relationships with landlords and other key agencies in order to provide a holistic support network around the individual
  • Carry out all project admin, including keeping accurate case records, recording and monitoring outcomes, and keeping accurate financial records
  • Assist in the running of the centre and the programme of work, particularly ensuring the safety and security of the people who attend the centre, volunteers, and staff
  • Ensure health and safety and hygiene standards are adhered to

Requirements:

  • Experience working with vulnerable people who are at risk of homelessness and who have complex needs
  • The ability to work with people to help them achieve their goals
  • Experience of motivating and empowering people to make positive changes in their lives
  • An understanding of person-centred working, with an asset-based approach to the individual
  • A working knowledge of homelessness legislation, welfare benefits, support services, and safeguarding
  • Experience of working under pressure and dealing with challenging and sometimes aggressive behaviour
  • Experience of lone working in the community

Additional Requirements:

  • Current valid right to work in the UK
  • Minimum 12 months' of paid experience in a front-line social care role within the last 3 years (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
  • A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £50)
  • Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
