About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Scientist to join our Data Science Team, reporting to one of our Lead Data Scientists. As a key appointment, you will be responsible for delivering key data science initiatives that drive significant value, combining insights from multiple large data sources with contextual understanding and experience of our colleagues across the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take ownership of delivering data science initiatives, breaking down tasks into measurable objectives and reporting progress and issues.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to identify and enthuse on initiatives, working within a pod of Data Scientists under the management of a Lead Data Scientist.
  • Apply machine learning and statistical modelling tools to execute initiatives, producing recommendations on how the business can realise value from this work.
  • Ensure awareness of and adherence to regulatory and internal policy requirements throughout projects.
Requirements
  • Highly numerate with a statistical background, with strong expertise in Python desirable.
  • Strong SQL skills, with exposure to Snowflake desirable, and ability to create clear data visualisations in tools such as Tableau essential.
  • Demonstrable experience in delivering data science initiatives from concept into production highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms available for data science and storage desirable.
  • Ability to gather data from multiple sources, cleanse and enrich it, and appreciate the importance of data governance.
  • Commitment to keeping knowledge up to date through self-learning, with opportunities to complete relevant courses, attend industry events, and obtain technical certifications.
  • Opportunity to pass on expertise to and coach Data Scientists, and develop people management skills for career progression.
