Job Description:

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays are seeking an experienced and skilled Lead Data Scientist to join our Jet2 Data Science team. As a key member of our team, you will be empowered to lead the delivery of critical data science initiatives, combining insights from multiple large data sources with the contextual understanding and experience of our colleagues across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of key data science initiatives, collaborating with internal teams and stakeholders to identify and execute projects that drive business value.
  • Develop and implement machine learning and statistical modeling tools to solve complex business problems.
  • Work with data scientists to execute projects, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring that business leaders understand the value and impact of data science initiatives.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, applying this knowledge to drive innovation and improvement within the team.

Requirements:

  • Strong background in statistics and machine learning, with expertise in Python and SQL.
  • Experience leading data science initiatives from concept to production, with a proven track record of delivering business value.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to gather data from multiple sources, cleanse and enrich it, and apply machine learning and statistical modeling techniques to drive business insights.
  • Appreciation of the importance of data governance and the ability to assess and enhance data quality.
