About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Architectural Technologist to join our Historic Building Surveying team in our Building Consultancy Division. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for drafting and revising plans, elevations, sections, and details using AutoCAD LT software.

You will also conduct site visits to carry out detailed measured surveys, working under the supervision and guidance of the Head of Historic Building Consultancy and other colleagues. Our team works with a prestigious clientele, including many of the Cambridge Colleges.

As an Architectural Technologist in our team, you will be responsible for:

  • Producing plans, elevations, sections, and details of building projects using CAD software.
  • Liaising with other members of the design team over design issues.
  • Being responsive to clients' deadlines and supporting and reinforcing client relationships.
  • Liaising with clients in a professional and knowledgeable manner.
  • Sharing technical and market knowledge as appropriate.
  • Attending internal events and meetings to contribute, build internal relationships, and raise internal profile.
  • Complying with Bidwells policies and procedures, ensuring corporate standards and best practice are adhered to at all times.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of all legislation affecting the technical aspects of the construction industry and sharing knowledge and information where appropriate.
  • Maintaining time sheets and submitting expenses on time and as requested.
  • Being commercially aware of work undertaken in respect of chargeable hours, with awareness of profitability.
  • Undertaking administration for the team to ensure the relevant paperwork and client file is kept up to date.
  • Carrying out such additional ad hoc duties as may be reasonably requested from time to time.
About You

We are looking for an experienced Architectural Technologist with:

  • AutoCAD Technician skills.
  • Knowledge of building regulations.
  • Able to undertake measured surveys.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Able to work under pressure of deadlines.
  • A professional team player with a positive and can-do attitude.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to resolve problems creatively.
  • Full driving license.
Desirable Skills

We would also like to hear from candidates with:

  • Background in construction.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 'Project'.
  • Revit experience.
  • Ability to sketch and/or a working knowledge of 'Sketch up'.
  • Historic building construction and legislation around these buildings.
