About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Architectural Technologist to join our Historic Building Surveying team at Bidwells. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for drafting and revising plans, elevations, sections, and details using AutoCAD LT software.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct site visits to carry out detailed measured surveys, working under the supervision and guidance of the Head of Historic Building Consultancy and other colleagues.
  • Produce plans, elevations, sections, and details of building projects using CAD software.
  • Liaise with other members of the design team over design issues.
  • Be responsive to clients' deadlines and support and reinforce client relationships.
  • Liaise with clients in a professional and knowledgeable manner.
  • Share technical and market knowledge as appropriate.
  • Attend internal events and meetings to contribute, build internal relationships, and raise internal profile.
  • Comply with Bidwells policies and procedures, ensuring corporate standards and best practice are adhered to at all times.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of all legislation affecting the technical aspects of the construction industry and share knowledge and information where appropriate.
  • Maintain time sheets and submit expenses on time and as requested.
  • Be commercially aware of work undertaken in respect of chargeable hours, with awareness of profitability.
  • Undertake administration for the team to ensure relevant paperwork and client file is kept up to date.
  • Carry out such additional ad hoc duties as may be reasonably requested from time to time.
Requirements
  • AutoCAD Technician.
  • Knowledge of building regulations.
  • Able to undertake measured surveys.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Able to work under pressure of deadlines.
  • A professional team player with a positive and can-do attitude.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to resolve problems creatively.
  • Full driving license.
Desirable Skills
  • Background in construction.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 'Project'.
  • Revit experience.
  • Ability to sketch and/or a working knowledge of 'Sketch up'.
  • Historic building construction and legislation around these buildings.
