About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Indirect Tax Manager to join our team at Stark Building Materials UK. As a key member of our tax department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the company's VAT compliance and providing expert advice on tax matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the UK VAT compliance process, including technical review of the quarterly VAT returns for sign-off by the Head of UK Tax.

  • Proactively work with our external tax advisors to improve the VAT return process and identify areas for cost savings.

  • Monitor changes to VAT legislation and review/update internal procedures on a periodic basis to ensure compliance.

  • Provide support to the UK property team to ensure VAT compliance on relevant transactions and provide advice on VAT treatment.

  • Liaise with HMRC as appropriate to resolve issues and clarify VAT treatment as required.

  • Provide advice to the branch managers in respect of customer VAT queries and provide support to the Head of UK Tax on other non-VAT tax issues as required.

  • Opportunity to support the Group Tax team with global VAT queries and provide expertise on international tax matters.

Requirements

  • Qualified CTA (Indirect Route) with a strong background in large accountancy firms.

  • Strong tax technical skills and the desire to develop further.

  • Ability to identify areas of risk/opportunities and carry out preliminary reviews.

  • Proactively builds relationships and seeks opportunities to share knowledge/improve processes.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Awareness of Customs processes and procedures (desirable).
