Machine Operator Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled or semi-skilled Machine Operator to join a leading global manufacturer of tags, labels, wristbands, and badges.

You will be part of a high-performing team, working closely with colleagues to achieve daily production requirements in terms of quality and quantity, meeting customer expectations and requirements while optimizing efficiency.

This role involves working with printing machinery and requires manual lifting and long periods of standing while performing duties.

The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and attention to detail to ensure consistent quality.

Prior experience in printing or machine operation is advantageous, along with computer literacy.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Setting and operating production equipment
  • Monitoring the production process and carrying out quality checks
  • Cleaning and basic maintenance of work areas and machines
  • Reporting equipment faults to the Supervisor
  • Entering relevant data onto Shuttleworth Dataflow to record product produced, quantities, material used, and time taken
  • Identifying and pursuing opportunities for improvement
  • Providing support to the Production Manager
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a skilled or semi-skilled printing or machine operator role
  • Able to read and follow written and verbal instructions
  • A good eye for detail
  • Basic computer skills
  • Willing to take responsibility to ensure quality control and company procedures are adhered to
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Able to work on own initiative when necessary
  • Exhibit a safety-first attitude
  • Good understanding of customer deliverables and the impact of failure or cost of quality
  • Desire to develop skills and knowledge to support business needs
Working Hours
  • Standard: 37.5 hours per week, working 16:00-02:00 Monday-Wednesday, 15:30-01:00 Thursday
  • Whilst training: 06:30-16:30 Monday-Wednesday, 06:30-16:00 Thursday
