We are seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader to oversee and guide our dedicated maintenance crew at our operational site. This position is accessible from various nearby locations.

Key Responsibilities

As the Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader, you will be tasked with managing the maintenance section, ensuring optimal performance and quality, enhancing process efficiency, and implementing a preventative maintenance program for both fixed and mobile equipment. You will lead a team while ensuring compliance with health and safety standards across all activities.

Your proactive and hands-on approach will be essential in all maintenance operations, including Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), defect management, breakdown resolution, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and project engineering tasks.

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitoring and optimizing process productivity while utilizing resources effectively.
  • Driving the achievement of Overall Operations Effectiveness (OOE) and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Communicating performance objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) to your team through regular meetings and briefings.
  • Supervising maintenance operations and conducting necessary inspections.
  • Applying fundamental maintenance practices, including checking levels, parts, and equipment lubrication.
  • Conducting maintenance inspections and reporting any defects.
  • Tracking and reporting key performance metrics and addressing any issues that arise.
  • Managing production-related costs and reviewing them with management.
  • Promoting adherence to maintenance management systems and best practices.
  • Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety regulations and striving for a zero-harm environment.
  • Leading and developing your team to enhance engagement and performance.
  • Addressing complex technical challenges as they occur.
  • Managing relationships with third-party service providers to ensure value and effectiveness.
  • Carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Note: This role requires weekend work to provide supervisory maintenance coverage.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate for the Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader position will play a crucial role in fostering an engineering culture that embraces continuous improvement. Candidates should possess experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity within a similar heavy manufacturing environment.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Essential: Knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, along with a basic understanding of electrical systems.
  • Relevant qualifications such as HNC/HND or a recognized apprenticeship in a related field.
  • Ability to challenge team members and ensure accountability for task completion.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, positive attitude.
  • Familiarity with Continuous Improvement methodologies, Lean practices, Six Sigma, and Root Cause Analysis techniques.
