We are seeking an experienced Associate to join our Data team at Sheridans, a leading London law firm. The successful candidate will have a strong background in data protection and commercial law, with a focus on GDPR compliance and data strategy.

Responsibilities
  • Drafting and Reviewing Agreements
    • Software licensing agreements, including SaaS and on-premises contracts
    • Distribution, reselling, and agency agreements
    • Software development, maintenance, and support agreements
    • End-user licenses and consumer terms
    • Open-source licensing
  • Advising Clients
    • Data protection and privacy projects, including notices, processing and transfer agreements, impact assessments, internal policies, and cybersecurity
    • Regulation relating to consumer contracts, ePrivacy, and advertising
  • Commercial Awareness and Negotiation
    • Commercial awareness and negotiating skills
    • Ability to liaise with senior internal stakeholders and clients
Requirements
  • Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree or higher from a well-regarded university
    • Qualified as a Solicitor in England and Wales (for London-based candidates)
    • Qualified as a lawyer in Germany or another European jurisdiction or before the New York or California bar (USA) (for German-based candidates)
  • Skills and Experience
    • Experience of working on GDPR and privacy projects
    • Experience of working in the areas of AI and adtech
    • Commercial awareness and negotiating skills
    • Interpersonal skills, to work as part of a team or with other people and organisations
    • A professional approach to work, integrity, and a respect for confidentiality
    • A methodical approach to work with a strong focus on accuracy
