Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be a vital member of the ward team. Responsibilities include overseeing all non-clinical patient facility services within the ward and ensuring a clean, safe, and comfortable environment to enhance the patient experience.

The primary duties of this role involve:

  • Conducting daily inspections of the ward environment to assess quality standards, reporting any deficiencies, and taking necessary actions.
  • Ensuring the provision of cleaning, catering, and minor maintenance services, along with other specified tasks tailored to meet individual patient needs.

Job Duties

Cleaning Responsibilities:

Ensure a high standard of cleanliness throughout all areas, assist in maintaining and monitoring cleaning standards on the ward, tidy bed areas, conduct regular cleanliness audits, and provide reports to the Ward Manager. Participate in Patient-Led Assessments of the Care Environment (PLACE) inspections.

Catering Responsibilities:

Ensure that patients receive high-quality food and beverages tailored to their individual needs, reporting any deficiencies to the facilities manager. Support menu completion for all dietary categories and facilitate bespoke menus as required with the catering team. Create a suitable environment for pleasant mealtimes.

Order and collect additional food/snacks, ensuring that patients are provided with appropriate cutlery, crockery, and protective clothing. Promote and support the culture of protected mealtimes for all patients.

Environmental Maintenance:

Ensure that the environment is well-maintained, safe, welcoming, and comfortable, reporting any deficiencies to the nurse in charge. Monitor general tidiness in all areas of the ward and follow up on environmental maintenance issues.

Equipment Management:

Assist the Ward Manager by conducting regular checks to ensure that all equipment is in good working order and report any faults. Order specialized equipment as requested by the Ward Manager and support the completion and review of the non-medical equipment inventory.
