Actuarial Consultant

Role Overview
The Actuarial team at Broadstone provides a comprehensive range of actuarial and defined benefits pension consultancy services to pension scheme trustees, scheme sponsors, and other third parties. The team also offers non-pensions actuarial analysis and advice to other parts of the firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaise with Investment Management colleagues, Broadstone colleagues, external third-party administrators, and clients to ensure seamless collaboration and effective communication.
- Attend external meetings with senior colleagues to represent the team and provide expert advice.
- Engage in direct client communication via email or telephone to build strong relationships and provide exceptional service.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Broadstone standards, adhering to relevant laws, regulations, and professional standards.
- Review data preparation work carried out by junior colleagues, investigate abnormalities, and resolve issues promptly.
- Conduct and review technical calculations relating to individual members of pension schemes, including early/late retirement quotations, trivial commutations, and transfer values.
- Perform and review technical calculations for pension schemes, including actuarial valuations, preparation of accounting disclosures under FRS 102, IAS 19R, and either ASC 715 or US GAAP.
- Suggest improvements to current working practices to enhance operational efficiencies and contribute to the team's continuous improvement.
Technical Knowledge and Professional Qualifications
- Hold passes in several actuarial exams, with a strong aptitude to continue progress towards part qualification as FIA or FFA.
- Develop a working knowledge of the basics of actuarial valuations, accounting disclosures under FRS 102, IAS 19R, and either ASC 715 or US GAAP.

- Exhibit strong team-working and communication skills.
- Show proficiency in computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
