We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Catering Assistant to join our Express Restaurant team. As a Catering Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality food and beverage service to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out practical tasks such as cooking, baking, cleaning, and serving food and drinks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prepare food and serve in strict accordance with food safety regulations, including peeling, chopping, trimming, marinating, seasoning, and storing food.
  • Operate kitchen equipment for cooking, washing, and use of the coffee machine.
  • Serve food and drinks for breakfast, lunch times, and ad-hoc drinks and confectionery in-between these opening times.
  • Operate the till, currently all payments are via card only.
  • Help with the unloading of deliveries of stock, ingredients, etc.
  • Dispose of waste from food preparation, finished meals, and waste products such as oil.
  • Clean work surfaces, cookers, and appliances to ensure continued kitchen operations and food service, cleanliness, and hygiene.
  • Restock vending machines/coffee machines on a regular basis.
  • Ensure stocks are checked and topped up regularly, including snacks and drinks in fridges and display units, condiments, and napkins, plates, knives, and forks.
  • Ensure everything is ready ahead of first service (breakfast) and is closed effectively after last service.
  • Update the log book on a regular basis (kitchen record book).

Requirements:

  • Previous catering/food service experience is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team without supervision.
  • Proven customer service skills.
  • Proven organisational skills.
  • Manual dexterity and proven attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to be calm in a crisis, focusing on resolving issues and providing solutions.
  • Intermediate level of literacy and numeracy.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in a calm manner.
  • Level 2 in Food Safety preferable.
  • Customer Service Level 2 desirable.
  • This role will involve some lifting and carrying of deliveries as and when required.
